Nancy and I traveled to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak yesterday for her Pre-Surgical Work-Up Day. She started by giving eight tubes of blood and then met with a nurse.
We learned that Michelle’s surgery day will start out in prep after arriving at 5:45 a.m. for registration, and then she will move to surgical waiting and begin her surgery around 8 a.m. She will finish around lunch. Michelle only will be allowed visitors in the pre-op area. In recovery, she will be in 2 East and then she’ll move to 5 Central, which is the nephrology area. She will not be able to see anybody, not even in recovery. Michelle will have visitors once she’s moved to 5 Central, which is where she will remain in the hospital
On Monday, Nancy will go give blood to be saved for later, if needed. Day of surgery, Nancy will begin at 5:45 a.m. with registration. After that, she will take a shower. She will be in 5 Central to start her day. She will move into surgery and then afterward will be in ICU and on 3 East. After a couple of days on Friday, she will move to 5 Central. She will remain there for the duration of her hospital stay until she goes home on Saturday or Sunday.
We met with someone at the hosptial who shared what prescriptions Nancy will be on. Mycophenolate, Tacrolimus and Valcyte are the main ones.
